What a wonderful resource Our Subversive Voice is, covering “the history and politics of the English protest song”. I had no idea that Twyford Down by Galliano was political. I first heard it in the early ‘90s when it was given away on a tape with Vox Magazine; the live recording on the tape missed the newsreader sample which would have given it away. Great song.
